"A Rich and Rare Memorial: The Story of the Oldest Museum in the English speaking World”
Watch here the Relics Cluster talk by curator Jan Graffius on Stonyhurst College's relics collection.
In late January, curator Jan Graffius delivered a talk entitled “A Rich and Rare Memorial: The story of the oldest museum in the English speaking world” where she talked about the extensive collection of relics held at Stonyhurst College (Lancashire) which covers over 2000 years of Catholic history and where she is the curator and museum keeper.
Jan recounted the history of the college, how it began and how the collection developed through the donation of relics from a wide range of Catholic families who were trying to preserve and protect them from Protestant developments in England.
