Prof. Gui-Qiang Chen has been the recipient of the 2011 SIAG/APDE Prize for his contribution of a theory to the understanding of shock reflection and its applicaton in similar nonlinear problems.
Congratulations to Prof. Gui-Qiang Chen, Keble Fellow in Mathematics and Complexity Cluster member, recipient of the 2011 SIAG/APDE Prize for his contribution of a theory to the understanding of shock reflection and its application in potential flow and similar nonlinear problems. This prize, granted by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), is a major honour in applied mathematics.
More details on Prof. Chen’s work can be found in: Chen, G.Q., Feldman, M. (2010) Global solutions of shock reflection by large-angle wedges for potential flow. Annals of Mathematics 171 [2] 1067-1182.
